Dancing across ‘the gap’ with 360 Degree Art History

This paper reviews recent considerations of Art History, highlighting the discipline’s concern with ‘meaning’ and its relegation of the materiality to the periphery of its research interests.(Yonan, 2018)  Art History’s sleight of hand has turned the study of secondary sources into the primary means of critically appreciating art objects. It also examines definition of Technical Art History, asking if the words ‘Art History’ can be reappropriated from ‘Traditional/Academic Art History’, what should we call this new inclusive boundary defying discipline? I suggest –  ‘360 Degree Art History’.
